A Facebook Pages for your business is important for 4 main reasons:
Firstly it is not against Facebooks’ Terms of Service, it is what they designed them for. It is where you share your business and products with Facebook users.

Your business will show up higher in search engine positions as Facebook is a popular site that is regularly crawled by the search engines.

A Facebook page can have unlimited “fans” unlike the limit of 5,000 friends that Facebook Profiles have (look at Red Bull 18,816,008 fans/likes todate).

A Facebook page is visible to because users do not need to be a friend to view it.

If you don’t already have a FB page this is the link that takes you to the FB page creation wizard. You can choose from the following page types:

Local business or place - Company, organisation or institution - Brand or product - Artist, band or public figure - Entertainment - Cause or community.

Within each category (except Cause or community) you will then need to select a subcategory the lists are really too long for a blog post so I won’t highlight them all but as an example under Artist, band or public figure you will find these subcategories:
Actor/Director,Artist,Athlete,Author,Business person,Chef,Coach,Comedian,Dancer,Doctor,Editor,Entertainer,Fictional character,Government official,Journalist,Lawyer,Monarch,Musician/Band,News personality,Politician,Producer,Public figure,Teacher,Writer

Remember: The name you give your new page is permanent, also, it and the subcategory you choose appear in the drop down menu when people search Facebook. Therefore it is important to make sure it’s a name your fans and customers will recognise.

When you have done all that - which does not take long you will have a new page. Don’t forget to tell people about your new page if you don’t then you will not have many visitors (if any!).
